Lisa Gleim is an Atlanta native and part-time Montana resident since 2016, which instigated her love of animals to become the primary subject matter of her work. She is an award-winning pastel artist and a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Working in pastel, Lisa is particularly interested in capturing the beauty of light and how it affects her subjects. Becoming a part-time Montana resident in 2016 helped make her life-long love of animals her primary subject matter. Seeking a way to distinguish her wildlife work, old maps and various ephemera became her unique painting surface. Choosing materials that represents her subjects such as old fishing licenses or national park maps and sometimes adding touches of gold leaf, an actual fishing fly or a sliver of stone add to the story. Such elements are intended to invite a viewer to linger and contemplate the story before and after the captured moment.
